An alleged incident at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has sparked a rapid response from aviation authorities and the airline involved. On December 19, 2025, passenger Ankit Dewan said he was assaulted by an off-duty Air India Express captain, Virender Sejwal, during a dispute at the security queue in Terminal 1. Photos showing injuries circulated on social media, prompting swift action from the airline. Air India Express announced the pilot has been removed from official duties with immediate effect and said it would initiate disciplinary action pending a full investigation.
