"South Park," the long-running animated comedy, officially debuted its 29th season as "South America" on Wednesday night, immediately embracing its controversial name change. The premiere episode, titled "South American Biker Gangs," started with an updated theme song declaring, “I'm goin' down to South America, have myself a time!” The episode didn't shy away from topical humor, featuring a cameo from Donald Trump.

The plot of the premiere centered on the show's beloved main characters, Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny, as they developed a new obsession with e-bikes. Their motorized two-wheeled adventures, however, quickly drew the ire of the town's parents, who retaliated by forming their own biker gang in opposition. In classic "South Park" fashion, the episode included Kenny's untimely demise, this time in an e-bike explosion.

His death served as a catalyst, uniting the town to ban e-bikes and even selling “South America Strong” T-shirts.

This rebranding of the town from "South Park" to "South America" is a direct and satirical jab at recent actions by Donald Trump, who has reportedly sought to rename various geographical landmarks as "America" versions (e.g., Lake Ontario to Lake America).

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had previously announced the change, stating,

Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of 'South Park' to 'South America',

adding a sarcastic thank you to their parent company, Paramount, for "Skydance Capitulation." The show's ongoing political commentary was further highlighted at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys, where "South Park" won for outstanding animated program.

During the celebration, the official "South Park" X account shared a provocative graphic of the president, continuing its tradition of pushing boundaries and critiquing political figures. This season's antics build on Season 28's political themes, which included storylines involving JD Vance, Satan, Pete Hegseth, and Peter Thiel.
