Navi Mumbai International Airport opens for commercial flights on December 25, featuring free high-speed Wi-Fi and an AI-powered virtual assistant for real-time updates.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is set to commence commercial operations from December 25, marking Mumbai's second major air facility. It will start with a limited flight schedule and then expand in phases as operations ramp up.
A digital first passenger experience is at the core of NMIA. Passengers will enjoy free high speed Wi-Fi across the terminal with speeds up to 10 Mbps and will receive real-time flight updates through the AdaniOneApp. The app also offers virtual assistance at key touchpoints, delivering flight status, gate information, flight schedules and other operational alerts. Static display boards complement the app to ensure timely updates, even if connectivity dips during peak traffic.
The Wi-Fi and app ecosystem are designed to help passengers plan their journey and time at the airport. In addition to flight information, the app can guide travelers to food and beverage outlets, stores, lounges and other terminal facilities. The infrastructure aims to support online payments, app based cab bookings, emails and video calls, enhancing convenience during travel.
Connectivity is a collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, which is deploying mobile network services at the airport. This ties into the broader plan to deliver stable, digital friendly services, reducing the need for long queues at information counters.
With preparations well advanced, NMIA is poised to transform air travel in the region by offering a modern, technology driven experience from day one. The opening will be followed by phased operations as more flights are added and facilities come online, aligning with traffic growth and passenger demand.
