A power and desalination plant in Kuwait reportedly suffered damage due to a retaliatory Iranian attack. The Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global energy supplies, has also become a flashpoint, with reports of US Marines boarding a tanker and another vessel being hit by a projectile, underscoring the growing threats to international shipping.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that its strikes were intended to "further degrade Iranian military capabilities," though specific targets were not disclosed. Both nations have been exchanging daily strikes over the past week, yet they had largely avoided targeting civilian infrastructure and major economic assets to prevent a wider escalation. However, this recent expansion of targets marks a significant shift, raising concerns about the conflict's potential to spiral further out of control.
