Amaravati's chief minister orders a comprehensive probe into recent construction-site fires, hinting at possible sabotage and demanding forensic clarity.
In a bid to safeguard Amaravati's ongoing capital development, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed police authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into a series of fires at construction sites in the capital region, with a focus on a possible conspiracy behind the incidents. This move comes as officials reassess safety protocols amid rapid infrastructure work.
The latest blaze erupted at a stockyard belonging to a major infrastructure company involved in the HOD Towers project at Rayapudi village, occurring after 11 pm on Monday. Firefighters battled the flames as 22 lots of permanent lubricated PVC pipes were gutted. The scale of damage has prompted authorities to scrutinize whether the incident stems from a controlled accident or deliberate sabotage.
This marks the second such incident in two weeks. On March 11, another fire damaged PVC pipes worth lakhs along the seed access road in the capital region. Police and forensic teams, including personnel from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory and the Forensic Science Laboratory, have visited the site to collect evidence and determine the cause.
Authorities have stressed that the investigation will rely on forensic findings to establish whether the fires were the result of a conspiracy by vested interests or other factors. The development comes as Amaravati continues to push ahead with its construction plans, making security and safety a top priority for all parties involved.
