India's defence minister Rajnath Singh warned that any misadventure from Pakistan would invite an unprecedented and decisive response, a stance tied to the Pahalgam attack and its aftermath.
He claimed Indian forces struck terrorist hideouts and infrastructure inside Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, saying the operation brought Pakistan to its knees within 22 minutes after the attack.
Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif fired back on X, saying any attack would be swift, calibrated and decisive. He recalled the four-day May conflict and warned that miscalculation has consequences, while stressing that Pakistan remains committed to peace but ready to defend sovereignty.
Asif argued that threats are often used to externalise internal fragility and urged restraint, adding that Pakistan's next response would be even more forceful and decisive.
The exchange underscores the ongoing cycle of deterrence as the Pahalgam attack anniversary nears.
