Armed Man Arrested Near Trump Golf Course with Illegal Ammo & Suspicious Activity

Authorities in California have apprehended a man found near former President Donald Trump's golf course in the Los Angeles area, just days before Trump was scheduled to host a fundraising dinner there. The individual, identified as Jeanine John Taele, 38, was observed walking around the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, taking photographs and videos, and "appearing to monitor security-planning activities," according to investigators.

The arrest took place on Sunday afternoon after plainclothes federal agents reported a suspicious person to local authorities. When law enforcement confronted Taele, they discovered he was already wanted in connection with a robbery by the El Segundo Police Department, located about 15 miles north of the golf course. A search revealed he was carrying a 16-round magazine containing hollow point ammunition. Further investigation of his vehicle, parked at the golf course, uncovered a loaded pistol and another loaded magazine with hollow-point ammunition.

Taele now faces charges including carrying a concealed firearm and possession of armor-piercing/prohibited ammunition. The timing of the arrest, shortly before a high-profile Republican fundraising event, has heightened security concerns. Hollow point bullets are known for their ability to flatten and widen upon impact, causing extensive damage to vital organs.

California maintains some of the nation's strictest gun laws, which prohibit magazines capable of holding more than 10 bullets. Following the arrest, agents from the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the LA County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau raided Taele's home in Downey, another city within the greater Los Angeles area, on Monday as part of their ongoing investigation.
