NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met at the newly inaugurated Prime Minister’s Office complex, Seva Teerth, for its first session. A resolution was adopted declaring that every decision from Seva Teerth will be guided by a spirit of service to 1.4 billion citizens and aligned with the broader goal of nation-building.
Seva Teerth is described as a 'pilgrimage of service'—more than just a workplace, symbolizing duty, dedication and public welfare. The resolution characterizes it as a direct expression of the reconstruction of New India. It notes Seva Teerth sits on the site of former British-era barracks, and believes that establishing a robust national governance institution there signals a transition to an India whose thought is indigenous, its form modern, and its capability boundless.
Constitutional values are highlighted as the moral anchor connecting governance with citizens' dignity, the cabinet says. In a nod to history, the document emphasizes the transformation that this complex represents for governance and for the idea of the Mother of Democracy.
On reforms, the cabinet took note of PM Modi's directive to identify reforms focused on ease of living and ease of doing business. Ministries are expected to spell out ongoing and planned changes, with a particular emphasis on non-financial regulatory reforms.
