Prosecutors say the case implicates more than 30 individuals and underscores the scale of the betting-terror in major markets such as New York, Miami, and Las Vegas.
The investigation also highlights high-tech tools said to have fed the fraud — from X-ray poker tables to secret cameras and specialized gear that helped players and accomplices read cards and track hands. Prosecutors described the operation as mind-boggling, evoking Hollywood heist plots, and FBI Director Kash Patel called the fraud 'mind boggling'.
The case arrives as legalized sports betting expands across the U.S., raising questions about integrity and enforcement. Officials stressed that while betting research is legal, using insider information and rigging games crosses lines into fraud and racketeering. The NBA said it takes the matter seriously and will cooperate fully with law enforcement.
