Beloved British Actor Richard O'Sullivan, Star of "Robin's Nest," Dies at 82

Richard O'Sullivan, the beloved British actor known for his iconic roles in 1970s television sitcoms Man About The House and Robin's Nest, has passed away peacefully at the age of 82. The news was confirmed by the Royal Variety Charity, stating he died on Friday surrounded by his close family at Brinsworth House in Twickenham, where he had resided for the past 23 years.

O'Sullivan became a household name playing the charming and often mischievous Robin Tripp, a catering student who moves into a shared flat with two women in Man About The House. His character's popularity led to the spin-off series Robin's Nest, where Tripp, now married to Vicky, opened his own restaurant. Beyond sitcoms, O'Sullivan also garnered fame for portraying the legendary highwayman Dick Turpin in the popular period adventure series.

Throughout the 1960s, he featured in two films alongside Sir Cliff Richard, The Young Ones (1961) and Wonderful Life (1964). A notable historical role saw him star opposite Hollywood legends Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton as Pharaoh Ptolemy XIII in the epic 1963 film Cleopatra.
