Mickey Rourke's GoFundMe to prevent eviction has surged past $68,000 in its first day, prompting fan support for the actor.
Mickey Rourke, 73, was photographed outside his Los Angeles home on Sunday, Jan. 4, as a GoFundMe page launched in his name to help him avoid eviction from the property.
The GoFundMe is described as a campaign to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time and has a fundraising goal of $100,000. The page was created by Liya-Joelle Jones, a friend of Rourke and a member of his management team, and is titled “Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home.”
In the background, Rourke had previously faced eviction after a notice to pay more than $59,000 in back rent was served in late December.
Within a day of the campaign going live, supporters had already pushed the total past $68,000, illustrating the reach of his fan base.
The GoFundMe, created by a friend and management colleague, aims to help him weather the financial moment while continuing his work in film and entertainment.
