A Delhi court remands I-PAC co-founder Vinesh Chandel to 10 days ED custody in a money-laundering probe linked to the Bengal coal scam, ahead of polls.
A Delhi court on Tuesday sent I-PAC co-founder and director Vinesh Chandel to ten days of ED custody after his arrest in a money-laundering case. The Enforcement Directorate had questioned him and then moved to arrest him late Monday, officials said. He is a law graduate from NLIU Bhopal and holds a 33% stake in I-PAC.
The ED investigation is linked to an alleged coal scam in West Bengal and also scrutinizes dealings between I-PAC and Vijay Nair, a former AAP communications adviser. The arrest comes weeks ahead of the West Bengal Assembly polls, intensifying scrutiny of political consulting firms tied to the state’s electoral dynamics.
Chandel’s detention marks a significant escalation in the probe, with authorities seeking to gather further documents and question him about possible money-laundering activity connected to the Bengal coal case. The case has become a focal point as investigators widen their look at political-linked financial flows ahead of the election season.
