Pune BMW Scandal: Gaurav Ahuja Arrested for Public Indecency

Gaurav Ahuja and his associate, who is involved in the viral case of public urination and drunken driving in a BMW, were arrested on Sunday and placed in police custody with two co-passengers. The Mumbai police arrested the accused, Gaurav Ahuja, and his associate Bhagyesh Oswal in the Karad area of the Satara district.

He was arrested at 7.50 AM when he was brought up to Pune after his medical examination was conducted at Sassoon hospital. Bhagyesh was taken into custody during this event by the police on Saturday at about 11 pm. An FIR was filed against Gaurav and Bhagyesh under sections 270, 281, 285, 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and under sections 184 and 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act for obscene acts in public and driving the car after drinking.

Reportedly, at 7.30 am on Saturday, Gaurav got out of a BMW car in the middle of the road at Shastri Nagar junction, allegedly urinating at the junction in the presence of passersby. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

The police interrogated Gaurav's father Manoj Ahuja, a Pune businessman, since he was found to be the owner of the BMW car. Meanwhile, Gaurav uploaded a video late Saturday night apologizing for his act 🔗. The video surfed over Twitter.

According to the source, Vijay Kumbhar, a senior RTI activist and leader of Aam Aadmi Party’s Pune unit stated,"As I stated this morning, Gaurav Ahuja is not a first-time offender, he’s a habitual criminal with a long history of offenses. He knows the law, how to exploit legal loopholes, and how to evade arrest. His past record is filthy!"

He Added, "Both Gaurav Ahuja and his father Manoj Ahuja have multiple criminal cases registered against them, cricket betting, extortion, and even jail time. Interestingly, during one of Gaurav’s earlier arrests, a police officer’s son was also found involved. So, where does their audacity come from? Who’s their powerful political protector in Pune?Their three generations have made fortunes from illegal lottery businesses, and Gaurav has been booked for several crimes. Now that his father is shedding crocodile tears, should anyone feel sympathy for this criminal family? Absolutely not! This is not a case of drunken mischief , it’s a criminal empire backed by political influence. Pune deserves justice, not manipulation!"

According to Mr. Kumbhar, this is not the first case that Gaurav is being indulged in. There are many criminal records under him. The arrest of Gaurav Ahuja signifies that public display of misconduct is punishable. The debate is now on rules, laws, and etiquette in public places.
