The Prince and Princess of Wales have introduced Otto, the second family dog, after sharing the spaniel’s first-birthday post. Otto is a chocolate cocker spaniel and one of four puppies born to Orla in 2025. Orla joined the royal household in 2020 after the unexpected death of their first dog, Lupo, at nine years old.
Otto’s name and birthday were announced on X with a simple caption: 'Welcome to the family, Otto! 1 today.' The reveal follows the family’s public affection for their dogs, including a black cocker spaniel named Barney who was a wedding present to William and Kate in 2011.
Fans have seen Otto in family photos, including a birthday portrait from last June where William is pictured gently stroking one of the puppies while Orla watches nearby. The pair also appeared in a recent holiday snapshot taken in Cornwall to mark the couple’s 15th wedding anniversary, showing the spaniels alongside the royal family in the grass.
Kate had previously hinted at a new puppy during a tour of a Welsh woollen mill, teasing that there was 'a little puppy' and noting Orla’s ongoing brood. The latest post confirms the expanding canine clan at Kensington Palace and gives fans a fresh glimpse of the family’s four-legged members.
