Kozhikode Poll Picture Clears as LDF, UDF Announce Candidates
LDF names 73 candidates for Kozhikode Corporation; UDF fields most of its slate, while BJP readies its final list ahead of local polls.
The Left Democratic Front has released a near-complete slate for Kozhikode Corporation, announcing 73 candidates. Mayoral candidate C.P. Musafar Ahamed will contest from Meenchanda, while Deputy Mayor candidate S. Jayasree is set to defend her seat in Kottooli. The CPI(M) lineup also includes Ramla P.K. (Elathur), E. Sunil Kumar (Chettikulam), V.P. Manoj (Eranhikkal), Amira Siraj (Puthur), T.S. Shimjith (Kunduparamba), M.M. Latha (Karuvisseri), Sindhu M.P. (Malapparamba) and several others.
Meanwhile, the UDF has announced the majority of its candidates, signaling a clear battle with LDF as campaigns gain momentum. A vivid Pulikkali costume joined a Congress demonstration on November 15, underscoring the festive pre-poll atmosphere.
The BJP is expected to complete its candidate list for the Corporation and district panchayat by Sunday, November 16, aiming to widen its presence in the district and factor into voter choices.
Together, these moves indicate a more defined political landscape across Kozhikode district ahead of voting, with local issues and governance in focus as parties sharpen their lines for the campaigns.
