New Delhi is bracing for a key development in the Baba Siddiqui murder case as Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and a long-sought conspirator, has been removed from the United States and is on his way to India. Officials confirmed the removal, noting the offender was taken off American soil on November 18, 2025, and is expected to land in New Delhi on Wednesday. This marked the culmination of an international pursuit connected to the Bandra East shooting that claimed the life of a former Maharashtra minister, Baba Siddique, on October 12, 2024.
Anmol Bishnoi had been on the run since fleeing India on a forged passport. Investigators traced his route through Nepal, then through Dubai and Kenya, before ultimately reaching the United States. He was detained last year, which launched the formal deportation process that concluded on Tuesday. The National Investigation Agency has long counted him among India’s most-wanted figures and had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his arrest.
Authorities say Anmol faces at least 18 criminal cases in India, including conspiracy to murder Baba Siddique, who was shot outside his son Zeeshan’s office building in Bandra East. In the wake of the murder, a social media post from Shubham Lonkar, a suspected member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the act. The case has drawn sustained attention as investigators connect it to a broader network of organized crime linked to Bishnoi’s faction.
With Anmol now in Indian custody, police and anti-crime agencies expect expedited consideration of where his custody will be placed first. Mumbai Police had sent two proposals about extradition, and officials say the Union government will decide the initial agency responsible for his custody. The deportation is viewed as a significant step in cross-border cooperation against organized crime and in pursuing accountability for the Siddique killing.
As the legal and investigative process unfolds, officials emphasize that the case remains a high-priority matter within India’s criminal justice system, signaling renewed momentum in efforts to dismantle networks tied to the Bishnoi faction.
