The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a special enforcement drive to identify and remove unauthorised advertisement structures across the city following the delimitation and merger of several municipalities into the civic body. GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said a large number of unauthorised hoardings, banners and other advertisement elements have been identified at various locations within GHMC limits. The move is aimed at boosting public safety, reducing visual clutter and ensuring compliance with municipal rules. The enforcement will roll out in phases, with a dedicated team to monitor and act against violators.
Officials noted that several illegal structures have already been dismantled, and penalties under the GHMC Act will be pursued against violators. The plan is to build urban orderliness and safer roads, with stricter checks on new advertisements. The administration asked property owners and advertisers to cooperate and comply with the norms to avoid penalties.
The phased approach will bring focused action to different zones of the city, reinforcing the message that public spaces must be safe and visually clean. This drive follows a broader push for better governance and accountability in Hyderabad's growing urban landscape.
