Bonnaroo Music Festival announces a "much-needed" break in 2027 to recover from severe weather. Find out why the iconic Tennessee festival is hitting pause! #Bonnaroo #MusicFestival
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, a beloved annual event held in Manchester, Tennessee, has announced a significant decision: it will be taking a "much-needed" year off in 2027. This break comes after several years of battling severe weather conditions that have severely impacted the festival's grounds and operations.
Organizers shared the news, explaining that extreme weather is the primary reason for the hiatus. The festival has faced considerable challenges, leading to past cancellations, including in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2021 because of heavy rainfall, and most recently in 2025, where the festival had to be called off just a day after it began due to adverse weather.
Despite significant investments and efforts to fortify "The Farm," the festival's site, organizers acknowledge that the grounds need time to recuperate. Ahead of the 2026 festival, improvements included enhanced drainage systems, 4.5 miles of new roadways, and 135 acres of new grass, all aimed at boosting the site's resilience against nature's forces. However, back-to-back years of storms, culminating in a heavy rainstorm during the 2026 event, have left the main venue and campgrounds in need of a thorough recovery period.
"This wasn"t an easy decision, and not one we take lightly, but in our hearts, we know this break will only make Bonnaroo better," stated the organizers. The 2026 festival, which took place from June 11-14, featured prominent acts like The Strokes, Noah Kahan, and Kesha, marking another year of memorable music despite the underlying environmental struggles. Fans will undoubtedly be looking forward to Bonnaroo's return in 2028, hopeful for a fully rejuvenated festival experience.
