Stalin Demands Revocation of 8 Lok Sabha MP Suspensions

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday strongly condemned the Lok Sabha's suspension of eight Opposition MPs, seven from Congress and one from CPI(M), for the rest of the Budget session. He said their democratic right to speak on issues of national importance must be restored.
Stalin, in a post on X, questioned why the BJP-led government at the Centre feared questions raised by Rahul Gandhi and urged the Union government to be prepared to answer MPs on national security and economic interests.
The eight MPs were suspended amid unruly scenes during protests over Rahul Gandhi not being allowed to speak on former Army chief Manoj Naravane’s unpublished memoir. The suspension resolution, moved by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, means the MPs will be out of action for the duration of the Budget session.
Lok Sabha adjournments followed repeated disruptions as opposition members pressed for a debate on the India-China framing and other national-security concerns raised by Gandhi. The move underscores ongoing tensions between the ruling party and opposition while raising questions about parliamentary decorum and accountability. Stalin’s statement framed the issue as a test of democratic rights and transparency in proceedings that shape national policy.
