Heathrow & Paddington Trains Back After Fire Chaos

Train services linking London Paddington with Heathrow Airport and beyond have fully resumed following significant disruption caused by a grass fire near the tracks on Saturday. The blaze, which erupted near Scrubs Lane in North Kensington, led to widespread cancellations and delays, affecting thousands of passengers.

The fire resulted in an electricity supply failure, effectively blocking all lines between the crucial transport hub of Paddington and Heathrow Airport, as well as routes towards Reading. This impacted operations for the Elizabeth Line, Heathrow Express, and Great Western Railway (GWR), leaving departure boards at Paddington Station displaying widespread issues.

Emergency services, including six fire engines and approximately 40 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade, swiftly responded to tackle the blaze. Their efforts were crucial in bringing the situation under control and allowing railway infrastructure teams to assess and repair the damage.

By Sunday morning, National Rail confirmed that all disruption directly related to the fire had ended, and services were largely back on schedule.

However, passengers were advised to check for potential impacts from pre-planned engineering works.

Separate maintenance work between London Paddington and Burnham meant some lines were closed on Sunday morning, particularly affecting Elizabeth Line services to and from Ealing Broadway until 7:40 AM.

After this time, amended timetables were in place for Elizabeth Line trains towards Maidenhead and Reading, and GWR services also saw some rescheduling and reduced local services between London Paddington, Reading, and Didcot Parkway.

Travellers are encouraged to consult their service providers for the latest information on specific journey times and any minor adjustments due to the ongoing engineering work.
