Gold & Silver Prices Today: Stability Amidst Global Market Swings
Stay updated on today's gold and silver rates across major Indian cities! Discover how global data and US interest rates are influencing precious metal markets. Essential insights for buyers and investors.
Gold and silver prices saw a mixed trend on July 19, with weakness in international bullion markets influencing domestic rates. While gold futures edged up slightly on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), silver futures experienced a minor dip. Market participants continue to track global economic data, US interest rate expectations, and currency movements for further direction in precious metal prices.
On the MCX, gold futures increased by 0.08%, reaching ₹1.40 lakh per 10 grams. Meanwhile, silver futures saw a slight drop of 0.13%, settling at ₹2.15 lakh per kilogram. These movements highlight the delicate balance influenced by various global economic factors.
For consumers, gold is primarily traded in two purities: 24-karat and 22-karat. 24-karat gold is considered the purest form of the precious metal, but 22-karat is widely preferred for jewelry due to its enhanced strength and durability, achieved by alloying with other metals.
Across major Indian cities, prices showed slight variations. In Delhi and Bengaluru, 24-karat gold was priced around ₹1,42,670 per 10 grams, with 22-karat at approximately ₹1,30,790. Mumbai and Kolkata saw 24-karat gold at ₹1,42,520 and 22-karat at ₹1,30,640. Silver prices also varied, with Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai seeing retail rates around ₹2,300 per 10 grams, which translates to ₹2,30,000 per kilogram. Hyderabad reported slightly higher silver rates at ₹2,350 per 10 grams or ₹2,35,000 per kilogram.
Recently, leading jewelers such as Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds quoted 22K gold at ₹13,135 per gram across various Indian states, indicating a slight rise in retail prices from July 17.
