The gathering is expected to take place at a location in Florida, widely reported to be Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, marking another milestone in a diplomatic push that began last November with the circulation of a 28-point plan drafted with input from Russian officials. Zelenskyy said on social media that they were not losing a single day and that a high-level meeting could decide much before the New Year. He added that the 20-point plan was about 90% ready and that bringing it to 100% was the goal, with Ukrainian and American negotiating teams already making significant progress. The plan is seen as an updated version of the earlier 28-point document, with Kyiv seeking security guarantees modeled on NATO’s Article 5, though Moscow has signaled it may resist certain terms. Washington has not publicly confirmed the meeting. The latest flurry of diplomacy followed sessions in Miami where U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff met separately with Russian and Ukrainian representatives.
