Priyanka Gandhi Slams 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' Cancellation: 'What Are They Afraid Of?'
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticizes the sudden cancellation of Rahul Gandhi's 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' program in Prayagraj, asking what the administration fears. Academic concerns cited for revoked venue permission.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra didn't mince words on Thursday, voicing strong criticism over the last-minute withdrawal of permission for the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' programme in Prayagraj. The event, intended for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, was scheduled for August 8 at K.P. Ground.
“Don't know what they are afraid of,” Gandhi reportedly told reporters, expressing her bewilderment at the decision. This comes after the Kayastha Pathshala Trust, which manages the K.P. College sports ground, revoked its earlier approval for the event.
The management of K.P. College cited several reasons for their decision. Foremost among them were academic concerns, with a particular emphasis on an Allahabad High Court order dated August 14, 2025. This order, according to a letter from the Acting President of Kayasth Pathshala, Chaudhary Jitendra Nath Singh, stressed the importance of not disrupting students' academic activities. The college principal's input also played a role in the decision.
Further, the management highlighted that holding the event on the scheduled date would affect students from two schools. They also expressed worries about potential rain damage to the outdoor sports ground, which could lead to difficult and time-consuming repairs. In light of these concerns and the High Court's directive, the trust suggested rescheduling the event to a date that wouldn't interfere with school activities or academic pursuits.
