Delhi Court Extends Anmol Bishnoi's NIA Custody in Gangster Syndicate Probe
Delhi court extends Anmol Bishnoi's NIA custody as investigators widen the probe into the Bishnoi gang and linked murders, following his US extradition.
A Delhi court on Saturday extended the National Investigation Agency's custody of deported gangster Anmol Bishnoi by seven days, with Special Judge Prashant Sharma ordering the extension at the NIA headquarters in a high-security hearing. He had been in 11 days of custody since November 19.
Prosecutors say Anmol Bishnoi is a key member of the Bishnoi gang and part of a terror-gangster syndicate led by his jailed brother Lawrence. He is wanted in connection with the killings of NCP leader Baba Siddique, the April 2024 firing at Salman Khan's residence, and the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, among other crimes. Absconding since 2022, he was deported from the United States on November 18 and detained there before his extradition.
The case forms part of a wider investigation into a transnational network accused of extortion and terror activities from abroad. The NIA has described Bishnoi as a key operative in the network and has kept him in custody as investigators pursue leads across borders. The next hearing is expected in early December.
