Chennai — The saga around Tamil Nadu’s government formation intensified on Friday as AMMK chief T.T.V. Dhinakaran accused TVK of submitting to the Governor a photocopy of a forged letter claiming AMMK support. He said the original document was sought and that a police complaint would be filed. Dhinakaran described S. Kamaraj, the lone AMMK MLA-elect from Mannargudi, as shocked by seeing a forged letter in his name. He also disclosed that earlier in the day he had handed a separate letter to the Governor extending support to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, urging him to be invited to form the government; the signed letter included his own and Kamaraj’s signatures.

Later that night, TVK appeared to push back, denying the charges and releasing a video that purportedly shows AMMK MLA Kamaraj signing a letter of support for TVK. The development underscored the widening rift and the fragility of coalition spells as Tamil Nadu eyes a potential government formation with competing claims.

Amid the fallout, Vijay, the TVK chief, has met the Governor RV Arlekar at Lok Bhavan on multiple occasions this week, a sign of how closely the gubernatorial process is being watched by all sides. In parallel, some opposition-leaning groups and others aligned with different factions signaled support for TVK, while others urged restraint and demanded transparency around letters of support and the steps toward inviting any party to form government.
