Amit Shah: Naxalism Nearing End After Raipur Review
Union Home Minister Amit Shah says strong security gains, infrastructure push, and a surrender policy signal Naxalism's decline, targeting eradication by March 31 after a Raipur security review.
Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review on Left-Wing Extremism, emphasizing a security-centric strategy, infrastructure development, and the disruption of Maoist financial networks. He said Naxalism is on the verge of ending and will be completely eradicated from the country before March 31, as the double-engine government leaves no stone unturned.
Shah noted that the approach—tied to security operations, building infrastructure in affected areas, and a robust surrender policy—has yielded tangible gains. He tweeted that the efforts have shown positive results and reiterated the commitment to end the menace.
During the Raipur conclave, the meeting was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and senior security officials, along with police chiefs from several states. The discussion emphasized strengthening coordination among central forces like the CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and the NIA to sustain pressure on Maoist networks.
Shah also urged Naxalites to lay down arms, promising a red-carpet welcome for those who surrender under the government’s policy. He warned that the destructive communist ideology must be opposed and defeated at the earliest.
Reflecting the broader strategy, Shah highlighted that since January 2024, the combined security drive in Chhattisgarh has led to significant takedowns and surrenders, underscoring a trend toward weakening the Maoist movement and restoring normalcy to affected districts.
