A former Michigan football coach, Sherrone Moore, remains in custody after the university announced he was fired for cause due to credible evidence of an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. He was detained by police hours after the university said it found the conduct warranted dismissal. Officials have not announced any charges against him yet.
A 911 dispatcher later disclosed a recording in which a caller said a man had been attacking her and had been stalking her for months. The dispatcher referenced an address on the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Road, the location associated with the earlier incident involving Moore. In the audio, the caller did not name Moore, but the timing and location align with the reported events in this case.
Authorities indicated the suspect was taken into custody and turned over to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for investigation. Moore was slated to be arraigned the following day, as the investigation continued.
The University of Michigan said there was credible evidence Moore had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, which led to his firing. As the case moves forward, officials have not provided a charging decision, and Moore remains in custody pending further action.
This development follows the university’s decision to part ways with Moore, a move that has left the football program navigating the aftermath while the investigation unfolds.
