The Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has been placed in an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Faro, Portugal, as doctors continue her recovery.
Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh star behind Total Eclipse of the Heart, was rushed to a hospital near her home in Faro, Portugal, on Wednesday for emergency intestinal surgery.
A spokesman said she has been placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery and asked fans for privacy as doctors monitor her condition. The 74-year-old, who grew up in Skewen, Wales, was reportedly recuperating after the procedure.
Tyler rose to international fame with Total Eclipse of the Heart, a track that later passed a billion streams on Spotify. She also represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, finishing 19th out of 26 acts, and was made an MBE for services to music in 2023. A spokesman added that a further update would be issued when able, and hopes for privacy during this difficult time were emphasized.
