NewsCord's campaign calls for theaters to boycott the film, echoing past criticisms where Black British comedians labeled Ali G "an alibi for racism." The site also highlights concerns raised by Jeanette Winterson, who questioned the character's distinction from the "Black and White Minstrels," and the documented harm to Kazakh and Arab organizations from Baron Cohen's past portrayals.

NewsCord's efforts appear to be gaining traction, claiming over 37,000 emails have been sent in support of their boycott. A significant victory for the campaign came when Picturehouse Cinemas, a UK chain operating 25 theaters, publicly stated they "currently do not have any plans to screen this film on its release." This decision comes as the film, described as a "fly-in-the-wall documentary" similar to his Borat character, prepares for release via Amazon MGM.
