Hyderabad woke to congested roads on Wednesday as long queues to refill vehicles spilled onto major corridors, turning the morning rush into a crawl. Police and traffic teams were deployed on-ground to coax the swelling lines into single-file or two-line queues, even as pump queues extended onto carriageways along the Old Mumbai Highway, Gachibowli and Lakdikapul.
Officials stressed there is no fuel shortage, saying there is enough petrol, diesel and LPG in the system. The Hyderabad Police Commissioner reiterated that there is no shortage, even as crowds at pumps kept growing and drivers waited for their turn.
Across the city, traffic slowed to a crawl with speeds around 23 kmph at many junctions, even as the number of vehicles on the roads reached a new high. The city’s roads were crowded, and the pressure points at Old Mumbai Highway, Gachibowli and Lakdikapul emerged as bottlenecks, drawing steady police attention to manage flow and safety.
Authorities urged calm and advised motorists to follow official updates, plan alternate routes where possible, and avoid unnecessary trips to fuel pumps. Residents and commuters hope the situation stabilizes soon as fuel logistics and consumer demand normalize.
