UP Chief Urges Identity Checks Before Hiring Amid Infiltrator Crackdown

In a fresh push to tighten security and curb illegal infiltration, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged residents to verify identities before hiring workers. He warned that resources belong to citizens and not to illegal immigrants, and that the state has launched strict action against those staying on forged documents.
The message comes amid a broader crackdown on Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals believed to be residing and working in the state. Authorities have been identifying foreign nationals with forged documents, and the chief minister emphasized vigilance by ordinary residents, not just law enforcement.
Adityanath's appeal referenced remarks made during a Supreme Court hearing on Rohingyas in India, noting that a red carpet should not be laid out for infiltrators. He framed security, social balance, and a strong law-and-order system as top priorities for the government.
The public-facing call stressed that citizens need to examine ID proofs before offering work, in order to prevent exploitation and security breaches. While the crackdown is controversial for some, officials say the aim is to protect jobs, welfare schemes, and community safety.
