Indian Market Buzz: NSE & Jio Eyeing Mega IPOs This Week!
Get ready for a blockbuster week! Both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Mukesh Ambani's Jio are set to file for their massive Initial Public Offerings. Will you invest?
India's financial markets are buzzing with anticipation as two of the nation's biggest entities, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Reliance Industries' telecom arm Jio, are reportedly poised to launch their highly anticipated Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) this week.
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is expected to file its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the capital markets regulator Sebi today, Wednesday. This move signals its intention for a stock market debut in the third quarter of the current financial year. Market sources indicate that the NSE's maiden stake sale will be entirely an offer-for-sale (OFS) issue, where existing shareholders will offload their stakes. The exchange is aiming to raise a substantial Rs 20,000-25,000 crore by selling up to a 5 per cent stake.
Prominent shareholders in NSE include Stock Holding Corporation of India, which itself has IFCI Ltd, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC RE among its stakeholders. State Bank of India (SBI) and SBI Capital Markets also hold significant stakes. LIC, GIC, The New India Assurance Company Ltd, National Insurance Company, and The Oriental Insurance Company are other key shareholders whose stakes will be part of this highly watched event.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani's Jio Infocomm is also reportedly set to file draft papers for its expected $4 billion IPO within days. This filing is anticipated just before Ambani's closely watched annual speech to Reliance Industries' shareholders on Friday. Investors are eagerly awaiting Reliance Industries' 49th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 19, where updates on the group's growth plans, the much-awaited Jio Platforms IPO, retail expansion, and clean energy initiatives are expected. The timing suggests a strategic move to capitalize on the momentum and investor interest generated by the AGM. This dual IPO excitement promises a dynamic period for Indian capital markets.
