Amitabh and Tabu Take Center Stage in Heartfelt Romance - Chini Kum

Amitabh Bachchan, Tabu & Paresh Rawal.. cast does not get better than this. Its sheer performance by the trio which takes your breadth away. Amitabh is at his best and so does Tabu, Paresh Rawal does his job well.

The plot is simple; AB is a restaurateur in London, Tabu comes to visit the place and they fall for each other. AB being much older than Tabu and is as old as her father, infact a yr or two older than Mr Rawal. Apparently he is not considered a suitable match for Tabu by her father (a Ghandhian in the movie) for the very obvious reasons and is totally against AB-Tabu getting together. AB prime objective is to convince his father-in-law which he eventually does teaming with Tabu in the end.

The story has another dimension to it; and that is AB's chief adviser Sexy (they definitely could have come up with a much cooler name) played by Swini Khara delivers a superb performance. Usually I am very skeptic on child artist performances but somehow this time I was delighted by Swini's act. The climax according to me is the scene when AB goes to make a wish at Qutub Minar and wishes for Tabu's dad to agree upon his marriage, immediately he get a phone call that Sexy (suffering from blood cancer) is no more; AB then feels the guilt of being selfish cause of not wishing for Sexy's good health and instead wishing for is married life. Its a beautiful scene with the right blend of melodrama.

The supporting cast; chef's, waiters at the restaurant & Zohara Seghal (AB's mommy) have done a fine job. They bring a smile on your face. Its a humorous movie not hilarious one I would say, and a good mix of drama and comedy.
