Brad Pitt Returns to Moderate Drinking After 7 Years Sober: "Back on the Wagon"
Oscar winner Brad Pitt opens up about his sobriety journey, revealing he's drinking in moderation again after seven years. Learn about his past struggles and his new "professional" approach.
Hollywood icon Brad Pitt has candidly shared that he is now drinking alcohol in moderation after a seven-year period of complete sobriety. The 62-year-old actor and producer recently revealed in an interview that he "got back off the wagon," but emphasizes a more controlled and professional approach to alcohol consumption.
While he can now enjoy a few glasses of wine, he stresses that he cannot indulge in large quantities.
Pitt first embarked on his sobriety journey in 2016, a period that coincided with his highly publicized separation from Angelina Jolie. Over the years, he has been remarkably open about his struggles and recovery, famously thanking fellow actor Bradley Cooper for his support during his 2020 Academy Awards acceptance speech.
He also spoke about the profound impact of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, which he described as an "incredible" and "really special experience," where men shared their vulnerabilities and humor.
He recalled being "on his knees" and "open" during that difficult time, seeking any help he could find. Pitt acknowledged that he needed a significant "rebooting" and to "wake the f*** up" in certain aspects of his life.
In the same interview, he also revealed facing extremely challenging periods, including experiencing suicidal thoughts while navigating family issues.
This new chapter marks a continuation of his very public and honest journey with personal challenges and recovery.
