Arcot MLA S.M. Sukumar has stepped forward to clarify his recent absence from a key consultative meeting held at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai. The legislator stated on Tuesday that his participation in a vital review meeting concerning development works in his district was the reason he couldn't attend the party gathering, which was chaired by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Addressing reporters, Mr. Sukumar emphatically denied any reports suggesting he was considering joining the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He underscored his unwavering loyalty to the AIADMK, making a strong statement: “I will rather go to the graveyard than joining any other political party.” This clarification comes after he was notably one of the AIADMK legislators who supported the ruling party during a confidence vote back in June.
The Arcot MLA further explained that he had informed the party leadership about his scheduling conflict. He emphasized the importance of his presence at the Collectorate's review meeting, stating, “As an elected representative of the constituency, I have to highlight various works that need to be done in the area at the review meeting in the Collectorate. I explained it to the party leadership.” The review meeting at the Collectorate, which he prioritized, was chaired by Minister for Cooperatives V. Gandhiraj and also saw the attendance of Collector N. Priya, other officials, and elected representatives, highlighting its significance for local development.
