Kadapa: Man Stabbed to Death Near RIMS Hospital After Street Clash
A man in Kadapa district was stabbed to death near Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences after a street clash, as police search for the culprits and political leaders react.
An Alamkhanpalle resident, Pedda Dastagiri, was stabbed to death by unidentified persons early Monday on the premises of Rajiv Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa district. Police say the attack followed a street clash between children playing in the area.
Two groups of youths had earlier clashed and later exchanged verbal duels during the Maremma Jatara, but the matter appeared to have subsided before the deadly attack. Investigators say the assailants waited for Dastagiri near RIMS, then stabbed him several times, killing him on the spot.
Kadapa Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath Shelke visited the crime scene and directed Kadapa Taluk police to nab the culprits at the earliest. A manhunt has been launched while authorities urged calm and cooperation with the investigation.
Leaders of various political parties gathered at the mortuary on Monday morning and demanded action against the perpetrators. Left party leaders criticized the state government, alleging that a drug menace and perceived police and administrative indifference have contributed to a breakdown in public safety, turning a local clash into a fatal incident.
The incident has raised concerns about security around medical facilities and the ease with which tensions among youths can escalate. Officials say the investigation will determine motive and identify those responsible, while the community awaits updates and assurances of accountability.
