London Ablaze! Massive Neasden Fire Sparks Travel Chaos & Smoke Alert

North London is currently grappling with the aftermath of a massive fire that erupted at a mixed waste facility in Neasden, close to the iconic Wembley Stadium. The blaze, which started on Friday, sent a colossal plume of smoke billowing across the sky, visible for miles around.

Around 125 dedicated firefighters have been battling the inferno, which took hold of an industrial unit approximately 100m by 150m. The sheer scale of the incident led the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to issue a stern warning, advising local residents to keep their doors and windows closed and remain indoors for safety.

Commuters faced significant challenges as the fire resulted in widespread travel chaos.

The entire Metropolitan line on the Tube was forced to close, and parts of the Jubilee line also experienced suspensions.

While some services have been restored, part suspensions and severe delays continued into Saturday as safety checks are rigorously carried out.

Rail passengers also bore the brunt of the disruption, with major impacts on services to and from London Marylebone station. The station itself was evacuated, and significant delays and cancellations on Chiltern Railway services to Aylesbury are expected to persist until at least 6pm on Saturday. The LFB received over 90 calls reporting the fire, with the first coming in at 11:34 AM.

Although footage shows a reduction in smoke, authorities are yet to confirm that the blaze is fully under control.

The cause of this extensive fire remains unknown as investigations are ongoing.
