Kochi was hit by a wave of sorrow on Monday, September 7, as two separate road accidents involving motorcycles claimed the lives of two individuals and left another seriously injured. The incidents highlight critical concerns regarding road safety in the city. In the first tragic event, 24-year-old Abhiram, a resident of Thripunithura, lost his life when the motorcycle he was riding, with his friend Akhil Shibu (23), crashed into a wall.
The accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. near Market Road in Thripunithura. Shibu, who was also from Thripunithura, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Hill Palace police have launched an investigation into the cause of this unfortunate incident.
A second, equally heartbreaking accident unfolded at DCC Junction on MG Road. P. Unnikrishnan, 61, a native of Chullikal, died after his bike reportedly fell under a lorry attempting to overtake his two-wheeler. Investigators suspect that Unnikrishnan's bike may have hit a roadside railing as the lorry moved too close, causing him to lose control and fall into the path of the heavy vehicle.
The Ernakulam Central police have registered a case and are probing the details surrounding this fatal incident.
These accidents serve as a grim reminder of the need for heightened caution and adherence to traffic rules on Kochi's roads.", "city": "Kochi
