Is Manifestation Actually Making You Miserable?
Is Manifestation Actually Making You Miserable?
Here's exactly how the self-help industry ruined my relationship with myself and why manifesting isn't the magic cure we were promised. It is time to stop optimizing your soul.
The self help industry (aka influencers) keep making you feel you're not enough. You're just one trick, one morning routine, one filter, one vacation, one meditation session away from your dream life.
Why manifesting didn't fix my life
Then there is the manifesting craze. I spent months trying to think my way into a better reality. I was told that if I just vibed high enough, the universe would deliver. But life does not work that way. And journaling may clear your thoughts. BUT.....
Sometimes, bad things happen because of systems, luck, or just the chaotic nature of the world. Focusing solely on manifestation made me ignore the very real emotional healing I actually needed. It taught me to bypass my negative emotions rather than sitting with them. Realism might not be as shiny as a vision board, but it is a lot more sustainable.
Reclaiming the ordinary
I have decided to stop trying to optimize my soul. I do not need a twelve-step routine or a meditation journal to be a person of value. Some mornings, I wake up at 8 AM, feel a bit groggy, and look at my phone for too long. So what's the point?
We need to give ourselves permission to be mediocre. We need to realize that self-care is not always a bubble bath or a new habit; sometimes, it is just admitting that you are tired and that you do not need to manifest a single thing today. If your self-help journey is making you feel like you are never enough, it might be time to put the books down. I am finally learning that the best version of myself is not the one who does everything perfectly. It is the one who knows when to stop.
