Fourteen people were hospitalized during The Chainsmokers' concert in San Jose, California, on Friday night after emergency crews responded to a wave of urgent medical calls. The incident occurred at Discovery Meadow on September 4th, prompting a significant response from local authorities.
San Jose Fire Department was first alerted around 8:22 p.m., with reports indicating multiple attendees required immediate medical attention. As the situation escalated and the number of patients grew, officials dispatched an extensive emergency operation, including an ambulance task force, two advanced life support units, and a battalion chief to the venue.
In total, 14 ambulances were deployed, and 14 individuals were subsequently transported to local hospitals.
While authorities have not released details regarding the conditions of those hospitalized or confirmed a single cause for the widespread medical incidents, San Jose police did state that some concertgoers were treated for "suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues." No arrests have been reported in connection with these events.
The 18+ concert, promoted by Insomniac, commenced at 5 p.m. and was scheduled to conclude at 10 p.m. DJ Don Diablo was also featured on the bill.
Emergency crews remained on-site at Discovery Meadow until approximately 10:34 p.m., ensuring all situations were handled.
As of Sunday, neither The Chainsmokers nor their representatives have issued any public statements concerning the hospitalizations. The electronic music duo continued their tour schedule, performing in Las Vegas the following day and are slated for an appearance at Austin City Limits in October.
