Los Angeles is gearing up for an unforgettable Independence Day celebration as America250, a bipartisan group, announces "America's Block Party" — a July 4th concert co-headlined by rock legends Smashing Pumpkins and country superstar Chris Stapleton. Adding to the excitement, rap icon Queen Latifah is set to host the grand event at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
This star-studded concert aims to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and promote America250’s “Giving 4th” initiative. Tickets are priced at a symbolic $17.76 and will go on sale starting Tuesday, June 16th, via America250’s official website. All net proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Feeding America, supporting a vital cause.
In a heartwarming gesture, 5,000 tickets will also be generously donated to first responders, veterans, and active-duty service members, who can claim their tickets directly through VetTix. Rosie Rios, America250 chair and former top Treasury official, emphasized the event's core mission: "As we celebrate our 250th anniversary, we have an opportunity to bring Americans together around the values that continue to unite us." America250 itself was established in 2016 by the nonpartisan US Semiquincentennial Commission, specifically tasked with overseeing the official planning for this significant national milestone.
This event stands in stark contrast to the recent “Freedom 250” and "Great American State Fair" organized by Donald Trump, which faced a widely publicized debacle. Trump's event, which was not created until January 2025 and announced a dismal slate of performers, saw multiple artists—including Morris Day & The Time, Young MC, The Commodores, Martina McBride, and Bret Michaels—bail out. These artists cited being unaware of the event's partisan nature at the time of booking, with Young MC even calling it a "bait-and-switch."
With a truly bipartisan spirit and an incredible lineup, "America's Block Party" promises to be a unifying and spectacular way to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary, focusing on shared values and community support.
