Tragedy in Kanpur: Two Pilots Die in Training Aircraft Crash

A tragic incident unfolded near Natthupurwa village in Kanpur today, as a twin-engine training aircraft crashed, killing both pilots on board. The ill-fated Tecnam aircraft, operated by Garg Aviation, a local flying school, went down in a field, sparking immediate panic among local residents who reported hearing a loud sound and seeing debris scattered across the area.

The two pilots, whose identities have not yet been fully released, were reportedly from Gujarat and Karnataka. This accident casts a somber shadow over flight training operations, especially for Garg Aviation, which had a previous incident just two months ago where a cadet pilot was injured during a night instructional sortie due to a propeller strike. Emergency teams quickly responded to the crash site.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been promptly informed and is expected to launch a comprehensive technical investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

This inquiry will be crucial in understanding if technical malfunctions, human error, or other factors led to this devastating outcome.

This incident also brings to light other recent concerns within the training aviation sector.

In June, a woman pilot sustained minor injuries when a two-seater trainee aircraft crashed in Kasganj district, damaging a high-tension power line. Preliminary findings suggested technical snags.

Similarly, in May, a training aircraft from Redbird Flight Training Academy made a hard landing in Maharashtra's Baramati.

These events underscore the urgent need for stringent safety protocols and thorough oversight in flight training operations across the country to prevent further loss of life and ensure the safety of aspiring aviators.
