Historic Day for Telangana Democracy: Assembly Gets New Central Hall

In a significant stride towards strengthening democratic traditions, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy officially inaugurated the 'Duddilla Sripada Rao Central Hall' at the Telangana Legislative Assembly premises in Hyderabad on Monday, September 7, 2026. The event was graced by the presence of Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, alongside numerous Ministers, MLAs, and MLCs.

The newly established Central Hall has been named in honor of former Assembly Speaker Duddilla Sripada Rao, who is also the father of the current IT and Industries Minister, Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

Following the inauguration, Chief Minister Reddy took the opportunity to interact with several legislators and leaders within the state-of-the-art facility.

In a social media statement, CM Revanth Reddy expressed his privilege at inaugurating the Central Hall. He conveyed confidence that this new addition would serve as an enduring symbol of Telangana's deep-rooted democratic values and its rich legislative traditions.

He further elaborated that the hall, drawing inspiration from established parliamentary democracies, is designed to provide a dignified and conducive space for members of both the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Here, they can meet, exchange vital ideas, and participate in crucial legislative and ceremonial proceedings. The Chief Minister's vision for such a facility stemmed from his tenure as a Member of Parliament from 2019 to 2023.

During this period, he observed the invaluable role a Central Hall plays in fostering dialogue.

He specifically noted its importance in offering a neutral ground for discussions and interactions between members of both the ruling party and the opposition, emphasizing that such a space is essential for strengthening the State's unwavering commitment to democratic principles and legislative integrity.
