Russia’s air defences say they shot down 77 Ukrainian drones overnight, marking a fresh flare-up in a conflict that now stretches far beyond the front lines. The defence ministry reported the drones were brought down over seven regions in southern and central Russia and over Russian-annexed Crimea. In the Rostov region near the border, a power transmission tower was damaged, leaving about 250 residents without electricity, though officials said there were no injuries. In the Saratov region to the southwest, 42 drones were destroyed, and 12 more were shot down over the Rostov region on the same day. The ministry noted that Moscow has ramped up long-range strikes aimed at military logistics and energy assets far from Ukraine’s frontline.
