A shooting disrupted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night as attendees, including President Donald Trump and other senior officials, gathered near the screening area outside the venue.
Officials say the suspect was found to be carrying guns and knives and appeared to act alone. The mayor said there is no reason to believe anyone else was involved, and there is no ongoing danger to the public.
The U.S. Attorney, Jeanine Pirro, said the suspect has been charged with firearms and assault charges.
During a late-night news conference, Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed the incident appeared to involve a lone actor and reiterated that authorities do not believe there is a broader threat.
