Delhi Welcomes China's Online Visa System for Indian Applicants

The Chinese Embassy in Delhi has launched the China Online Visa Application System for Indian passport holders to apply for visas online, a move that streamlines a process many travellers know well. The system is designed to be easier than the old method, which required applicants to present a stack of paper documents in person. Eligible applicants can complete forms, upload materials, and book biometrics online via the dedicated portal.

Under the new scheme, visa categories include tourist (L), business (M), student (X), and work (Z). The system promises end-to-end digital submission, reducing in-person visits from two to one, with biometrics still conducted as required. Real-time status tracking and integration with UnionPay for fee payments in INR are among the notable conveniences, helping travellers avoid forex markups.

The move comes as part of broader efforts to normalise ties between India and China after lengthy tensions along the Line of Actual Control. Earlier this year India resumed granting tourist visas for Chinese nationals, and this month India also took steps to speed up business visas for Chinese professionals. The online portal is expected to further facilitate travel and business exchanges between the two nations.

Applicants can access the service at the official site https://www.visaforchina.cn/DEL3_EN/qianzhengyewu, with the intended launch date firmly set for December 22, 2025. The Chinese Embassy and associated agencies have emphasized the convenience and transparency of digital submissions, as well as monitoring and updates provided through the platform.

As with any new system, questions about eligibility, documentation, and potential technical glitches may arise. If it proves smooth in its rollout, the online visa application system could become the new norm for India-China travel, supporting smooth, faster processing for travellers and businesspeople alike.
