Israeli Strikes Hit Southern Lebanon: Paramedics and Child Among 10 Killed

The situation in southern Lebanon remains incredibly tense as a series of recent Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of 10 people. Among those killed were six healthcare workers and a young Syrian girl. These attacks come at a time when a U.S.-brokered ceasefire was supposed to be bringing some measure of calm to the region, but the reality on the ground tells a much more tragic story.

In the village of Hanouiyeh, a strike hit a group of paramedics from Hezbollah’s Islamic Health Association. Four workers lost their lives while trying to provide aid, and others were left wounded. Another strike in the coastal province of Tyre, specifically in Deir Qanoun al Nahr, claimed six more lives. This second attack was particularly devastating, killing a Syrian child and two paramedics affiliated with the Al-Rissala Scouts Association.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry has been vocal in its condemnation, stating that these attacks on medical personnel are clear violations of international law. The World Health Organization has also raised alarms, reporting that there have been over 160 confirmed attacks on healthcare facilities and workers since this conflict intensified, leading to over 115 deaths among medical staff alone.

While the Israeli military has previously suggested that militant groups use medical vehicles as cover for their operations, the Health Ministry continues to highlight the heavy toll on civilian first responders. Meanwhile, the overall death toll in this round of fighting has officially surpassed 3,000 people.

Despite the official ceasefire status, evacuation warnings continue to be issued for parts of southern Lebanon. For the families in Tyre and surrounding villages, the promised peace feels further away than ever as they hold funerals for those who were simply trying to save lives.
