Indian Markets Stand Firm as FIIs Sell, Domestic Buying Supports Rally
Foreign institutional investors stay cautious amid global headwinds, but domestic buyers and improving sentiment help Indian markets rebound, keeping resilience intact.
Foreign institutional investors, or FIIs, continue to be cautious on Indian equities due to global uncertainty, rising crude oil concerns, and rupee weakness. Yet, despite sustained foreign selling, Indian markets have shown remarkable resilience. Domestic institutional buying, improving sentiment, and early signs of a market recovery are helping stabilise the markets as the Nifty climbs back from recent lows.
It is too early to declare a trend, but analysts note that strong domestic participation is cushioning the pull of overseas funds. Fund managers say that value picks and steady earnings across core sectors are supporting the rally, with midcaps also contributing as liquidity stays relatively supportive.
Investors are keeping a close eye on whether FII selling pressure will ease in the coming months, and on macro cues such as crude prices, currency moves, and policy signals. If oil cools and the rupee steadies, the domestic-led tide could keep lifting benchmarks higher, even as global risks linger.
