Delhi CM Provides ₹10 Lakh Relief to Saidulajab & Hauz Rani Tragedy Victims

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently met with the grieving families of those who tragically lost their lives in the Saidulajab building collapse and the Hauz Rani hotel fire incidents. During these heartfelt meetings, the Chief Minister personally handed over an ex-gratia amount of ₹10 lakh to each affected family, offering a gesture of support in their time of profound loss.

The CM conveyed her deepest sympathies, stating, “No assistance can make up for the loss of a loved one, but in this hour of grief, the Delhi government stands firmly with you like a family.” This sentiment underscores the government's commitment to supporting its citizens through difficult times.

The Saidulajab building collapse, which occurred on May 30, 2026, claimed the lives of six individuals, including five medical students and a canteen owner. Just days later, on June 3, a devastating fire at a bread-and-breakfast facility in Malviya Nagar’s Hauz Rani resulted in the deaths of 23 people, including several foreign nationals. These incidents have deeply shaken the community.

Chief Minister Gupta also assured the families and the public that the government is taking concrete steps to prevent such tragedies from recurring. She emphasized that those found responsible for these two devastating incidents would not be spared, indicating a firm stance on accountability. Furthermore, the government is actively working to enhance the capabilities of the Delhi Fire Services. This includes procuring smaller firefighting vehicles specifically designed to navigate narrow lanes and densely populated areas, which are often challenging for standard fire trucks, aiming to improve response times and effectiveness in curbing fire incidents across the city.
