Orry summoned in Rs 252 crore drugs case: Mumbai ANC questions influencer
Orhan ‘Orry’ Awatramani to be questioned by Mumbai Police’s ANC in a Rs 252 crore mephedrone case linked to a Sangli facility and a broader drug network.
Orhan Awatramani, the socialite and influencer popularly known as Orry, will be questioned by the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell for the Rs 252-crore mephedrone case. He has been summoned to appear at 10 am on Thursday for questioning. The probe traces back to March 2024, when a mephedrone-manufacturing facility was found on a farm in Maharashtra’s Sangli, with 126.14 kg of MD seized and valued at about ₹252 crore. Investigators say the Sangli unit was run by the wanted drug trafficker Salim Dola and his son Taher, with raw materials allegedly supplied through a Surat-based associate. As the investigation widened, officials realized the Sangli operation was part of a much larger network. The drugs were moved in luxury cars like Mercedes and BMWs to evade suspicion, and profits were allegedly routed overseas via hawala routes. The inquiry intensified after the August 2022 arrest of a Nagpada resident, leading to multiple linked arrests and the March 2024 factory bust.
A Dubai connection figured prominently when the deported and arrested aide Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh provided testimony. He claimed Shaikh organized lavish parties in Dubai and Mumbai attended by a mix of celebrities and public figures, including actors Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, producer duo Abbas-Mustan, influencer Orry, rapper Loka, and politician Zeeshan Siddique. In its remand application, the anti-drugs body noted Shaikh’s alleged role in these events. Nora Fatehi later publicly responded to reports linking her to the drug raves. The ANC has not announced formal charges yet, but Orry’s name has surfaced in connection with the broader case as investigators continue digging into the network.
The authorities have scheduled Orry’s questioning at the Ghatkopar unit, marking another high-profile moment in a case that casts a wide net across celebrity and public figure circles while highlighting the reach of a sophisticated drug-trafficking operation.
